Propeller and Propulsion Services

Airbus has facilities in NZ and Australia that provide a wide range of propulsion system component support. Complete on site capability means Airbus can provide a fast, efficient turnaround for our customers, however big or small your requirements.

New Zealand Operations
Our Propulsion Centre is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and is fully equipped with sophisticated technology to provide a superior standard of propeller and engine and servicing.

Hartzell Propellers
Airbus’ Propulsion Centre is one of a limited number of Hartzell Recommended Service facilities around the world. Our technicians are trained and audited by Hartzell to ensure they can perform a wide range of services to the latest standards. Those services include complete overhauls of both metal and composite propellers, hubs and blades. Airbus holds Hartzell approval for shot peening using our robotic CNC shot peening equipment. We also perform static balancing on all propellers and dynamic balancing for fly-in customers.

Airbus is also proud to offer Hartzell new sales and after-market sales at competitive prices.

McCauley
Airbus is an Authorised Service Centre for McCauley. We offer anodising and cadmium plating, specialist paint work using factory recommended paints, blade grinding and dimensional inspections, static and dynamic balancing, shot peening and replacement of rubber de-ice boots. Airbus features after-market sales capability for McCauley propeller products, at competitive prices.

Hamilton Sundstrand
Airbus offers the only Hamilton Sundstrand authorised facilities in Australia Pacific. Our capabilities for civil Hamilton Sundstrand propellers include 14RF, 14SF and 568F. Our military capability centres on overhaul and repair of the complete 54H60 propeller including control assemblies and spinners.

Rotor Blades
As part of Airbus’ long standing relationship with a number of military customers, we provide support to the Royal New Zealand Air Force for Kaman SH2G Seasprite rotor blades. Our on-site capabilities include static balance, composite repairs to the blade skins and internal rigging inspection and repairs.

Engine Support
The engine centre supports the Rolls Royce T56 A14 and A15, and the 501D-13. Our specialist equipment includes an outdoor engine test stand and a reduction gear box test stand. Airbus in Blenheim is one of the few remaining facilities in the world with the Pratt and Whitney J52 capability. Our highly specialised operation maintains a full overhaul and hot section inspection capability for J52, P8 and P408 variants of the Pratt and Whitney engine.

As part of our on-site capability, we have a range of specialist services, these include: a wide range of Electroplating capabilities including anodising for corrosion protection, NDT, machining, shot-peening, cold-rolling, painting and a specialist composite propeller inspection and repair shop, balance rooms and test rig rooms.
